ACC Announces Acquisition of ACTA

December 7, 2017
Advanced Core Concepts adds software modeling, simulation, and risk management capabilities to existing technical services

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. & TORRANCE, Ca. – Dec. 7, 2017 – Advanced Core Concepts (ACC) announces the acquisition of ACTA, a California-based engineering and technical services firm. ACTA specializes in risk mitigation analysis for operations that possess the potential for extraordinarily severe consequences including space launch operations, spacecraft re-entry and airspace integration, missile defense intercepts, mass ordnance storage, and energetic chemical and nuclear material processing. In addition, ACTA develops software tools that simulate physical behaviors in complex systems to manage risks in innovative ways. The acquisition enables ACC to strengthen its position as a small business provider of analytical engineering and software development services and technical support to the Department of Defense (DoD) and other federal and commercial customers.

Currently headquartered in Warner Robins, Georgia, ACC will expand to the West Coast, adding ACTA’s corporate offices in Torrance and Lompoc, California. ACC now employs over 260 personnel and has a national presence supporting programs within the aerospace and broader national security sectors. Trase Travers will remain chief executive officer of the combined enterprise, and Dr. James Hudson, co-founder and president of ACTA, will serve as president of the wholly-owned subsidiary.

“In ACTA, we have acquired a partner with strong capabilities and a track record across a range of programs of national significance. ACTA’s novel use of modeling and simulation melded with innovative risk analysis techniques has allowed mission managers to fully understand their risk posture and execute mission critical operations timely and safely,” said Trase Travers, CEO of ACC. “We look forward to working with Dr. Hudson and his talented team to grow the combined enterprise and provide exceptional support to mission-critical programs.”

“ACTA is pleased to be part of ACC,” added Dr. James Hudson. “ACC is a highly regarded company with an excellent reputation and leadership team. The combined enterprise’s unique technical capabilities and high-quality executive leadership will enable enhanced customer service and increased employee career opportunities.”

ACC’s acquisition of ACTA follows ACC’s recent appointment of Richard Matlock, a decorated missile defense leader and former program executive for Advanced Technology at the Missile Defense Agency, to ACC’s Board of Advisors. Matlock noted, “ACTA offers ACC strong past performance and technical differentiation, particularly in physics-based modeling as applied to missile flight, intercept debris, and space situational awareness. I look forward to working with management to expand the Company’s technology development strategies in support of customers in key technical areas.”
